The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is working with its partners in the public and private sectors to research, develop, and deploy technologies that enhance the performance of electric drive vehicles, including hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), and all-electric vehicles (EVs).

DOE's Advanced Vehicle Testing Activity (AVTA) benchmarks and validates the performance of light-, medium- and heavy-duty vehicles that feature electric drive technologies and other advanced vehicle technologies. With input from industry and other stakeholders, AVTA also develops test procedures to accurately measure real-world vehicle performance. Among AVTA projects is The EV Project, which collects and analyzes data to characterize plug-in vehicle use in diverse topographic and climatic conditions, evaluates the effectiveness of charging infrastructure, and conducts trials of various revenue systems for commercial and public charging infrastructure.

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People

Habit 1: Be Proactive
"Habit 1 is the key to unlocking all the other habits and that's why it comes first. It says, "I am the captain of my life. I can choose my attitude. I'm responsible for my own happiness or unhappiness. I am in the driver's seat of my destiny, not just a passenger." What this quote is trying to say is that you are always  in charge of your choices and your path. you should not allow anyone of any thing take control of your destiny. Make sure you have the right attitude at the right time, cause you attitude does affect your choices and the way you approach things. You are also responsible about how you feel. Let your feelings definre who you are and dont hide who you truly are, at the same time don't let your feelings get the worse of you. In this quote "I am in the driver's seat of my destiny, not just a passenger." it means that you are always going to be in charge of what your gonna end up.

Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind
"Control your own destiny or someone else will." (Jack Welch) What this quote is saying is that control tour own path or carrer, but if you dont someone else is going to set your goals and objective. If you do not have a goal set or a idea of of what you want to do in the future then you feel like you have no purpose, so you just do what you can do with out even knowing whats head of you. Theres no challlege you just want to have the easy way and not reach for what you want. When your in the state of not knowing what to do in your life, you just find a way of just living with what you have and not want. You want to live the very best of your life so want to set a goal and find what you desire to have.

Habit 3: Put First Things First
"Organize and execute around priorities."
Time management is an essential skill for personal management. The essence of time management is to organize and execute around priorities. Methods of time management have developed in these stages: 1) notes and checklists recognizing multiple demands on our time; 2) calendars and appointment books scheduling events and activities; 3) prioritizing, clarifying values integrating our daily planning with goal setting (The downside of this approach is increasing efficiency can reduce the spontaneity and relationships of life.); 4) managing ourselves rather than managing time focusing in preserving and enhancing relationships and accomplishing results, thus maintaining the P/PC balance (production versus building production capacity).

Habit 4: Think Win-Win
"Think win-win or no deal."
Win-win isn’t my way or your way. It’s a third way – a better alternative reached by a process of mutual listening and a desire to understand one another.  The alternatives (Win-Lose, Lose-Win, or Lose-Lose) are the typical results of negotiating, but the side-effects are broken relationships and lack of trust. Win-Win is a more difficult but worthy goal. No Deal is often a necessary fall-back when the relationship is more important than the final result.

Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, then to be Understood
"Diagnose before you prescribe."
Comunication is the most important skill in life. You use communication is used every where you go. when you have a conversation with some body, you want to get your point across. And in doing so, you may ignore the other person completely, pretend that you’re listening, selectively hear only certain parts of the conversation or attentively focus on only the words being said, but miss the meaning entirely. So why does this happen? Because most people listen with the intent to reply, not to understand. You listen to yourself as you prepare in your mind what you are going to say, the questions you are going to ask, etc. You filter everything you hear through your life experiences, your frame of reference. You check what you hear against your autobiography and see how it measures up. And consequently, you decide prematurely what the other person means before he/she finishes communicating. Do any of the following sound familiar?
Habit 6:  Synergize
"The whole is greater than the sum of its parts (1+1=3)"
Synergize is teamwork, teamwork is more faster, efecctive, and you get a better result. To put it simply, synergy means "two heads are better than one." Synergize is the habit of creative cooperation. It is teamwork, open-mindedness, and the adventure of finding new solutions to old problems. But it doesn't just happen on its own. It's a process, and through that process, people bring all their personal experience and expertise to the table. Together, they can produce far better results that they could individually. Synergy lets us discover jointly things we are much less likely to discover by ourselves.

Habit 7:  Sharpen the Saw
Four Dimensions of Self-Renewal: Physical, Mental, Spiritual, Social/Emotional
These four Dimensions will make you a better person independently and with others. It also means having a balanced program for self-renewal in the four areas of your life: physical, social/emotional, mental, and spiritual. As you renew yourself in each of the four areas, you create growth and change in your life. Sharpen the Saw keeps you fresh so you can continue to practice the other six habits. You increase your capacity to produce and handle the challenges around you. Without this renewal, the body becomes weak, the mind mechanical, the emotions raw, the spirit insensitive, and the person selfish.
